Big Tujunga Dam

This dam is at 2,300 feet elevation in the watershed and was built in 1931 for flood control and water conservation (LADPW). In the winter of '04/'05, the reservoir filled with sediment-rich water and debris from the upper watershed and eventually spilled water to the Big Tujunga mainstem. The storms resulted in some of the highest recorded flows for the Big Tujunga ever recorded.
