The NW corner of Laurel Canyon & Valleyheart has been an eyesore, though it holds great promise as a spectacular entrance to the River Greenway as well as a community information and gathering spot.
With funding from the Neighborhood Council, The River Project created an overall design for a 4,000 sq. ft. pocket park at this corner featuring native landscaping, the Sycamore Arch (designed by local artist Karl Johnson), boulders, seating areas, and a dog watering station.
The planned park will be constructed with NBC/Universal mitigation funding in late 2013 through 2014. Vegetation and interprertive elements will be based upon the plant community of the Sycamore Tree.
